I.A.U.T.
is a cultural and academic association,
nonprofit and has no political affiliations.
Objectives:
- The preservation
and promulgation of contemporary and classical Iranian intellectual,
cultural and civilizational heritage.
- The discussion
and investigation of international/global cultural issues
relevant to Iranian society.
- Providing
an appropriate channel for communication and dialogue with
educational and academic centres concerned with Iranian issues.
- Identifying
the cultural exigencies among the Iranian community at the
University of Toronto and encouraging the community's participation
in I.A.U.T.'s activities.
Membership requirements:
- The ability
to speak and read in Persian language as an accepted historical
lingua franca among diverse Iranian linguistic tradition.
- To be
a student, alumnus or teaching staff at the University of
Toronto.
- To be
an active participant in attaining the goals of the Association.
- To pay
an annual membership of $10.00 as well as $1.00 per monthly
meeting, if attended.
Meetings:
- Each
member of I.A.U.T., in turn, is to present a scholarly topic
at monthly sessions (12 meetings annually)
Finances:
- Revenue
generated from membership fees is used as payment for Seminar
Room reservation, material fees and refreshments.
Elections, Executives & Amendments:
- I.A.U.T's
administrative tasks are conducted through its Board of Directors
which is elected annually by members, each member possessing
a single vote.
- Each
member is eligible for an executive position.
- Amendments
to the Constitution may be brought forth at the Annual meeting
and voted upon if a quorum of 75% of members are present.
- Under
no circumstances can I.A.U.T. adopt a political affiliation.
